Creative endeavors can increase our sense of engagement, of being in the "here and now," which generate positive emotions that further fuel our creativity, building an upward spiral that broadens and builds our intellectual and psychological resources. In this workshop we will use visual art, movement and writing to increase of awareness of and access to our own positive experiences and emotions. In Shadow and In Light: The Healing Art of Photography [image: Carolyn Hendricks] With Connie Reider Thursday August 20 6:30-8:30PM Free & Open to the Public 2 CECs Available*

Diagnosed with breast cancer in 1995, Connie Reider used her love of photography and writing to heal, creating a book, In Shadow and Light... Looking for the Gifts of Cancer. This program will include a presentation of her book as well as a sampling of her expressive arts workshop, INSCAPE, the Healing Art of Photography. With discussion and hands-on exercises, we will investigate the shadow and the light in our lives, realizing the need to embrace both in order to live with full possibility, vitality, and passion. *Good News! Please note the new 6:30 start time which allows greater access to street parking without time restrictions.


CANCER HELP PROGRAM RETREATS

Upcoming Retreats Four-Day Residential Retreats Thursday - Sunday, September 24-27 One-Day Retreat Saturday, October 17 Our purpose in the Cancer Help Program is to help you live as long and as well as possible with cancer -- physically, emotionally, mentally and spiritually. The Cancer Help Program offers practical tools that enhance health and well-being, reduce anxiety and depression, and inform choices in both medical and integral cancer therapies. We have been offering this program for 10 years at Smith Farm Center. The schedule includes yoga, meditation, deep relaxation, and imagery. Support groups are led by gifted group leaders. Massage, individual counseling, expressive arts like sand-tray, and discussion sessions on choices in medical and integral therapies are all part of the program. Finding Beauty in a Broken World: In the Spirit of Frida Kahlo

A mixed media exhibition juried by F. Lennox Campello

Frida Kahlo remains one of the most influential artists of the 20th century, but her spectacular life experiences, writing and views on life and art have also influenced many artists. This exhibition will showcase the work of artists influenced not only by Frida's art, but also by her biography, her thoughts, and her writings. Exhibition Dates: July 1 - August 29 Gallery Hours: Wednesday through Friday 11:00AM-5:00PM, Saturday 11:00AM-3:00PM and by appointment.

Gentle Evening Yoga With Kim Weeks
Wednesdays 5:30PM-6:45PM $10/session or $25/month Both Morning and Evening Yoga classes are designed for adults who live with illness and caregivers who support them. Participants learn techniques to reduce stress and increase flexibility and strength while reducing symptoms related to illness. All levels welcome.
