| ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Bill To Protect Artists DC Advocates for the Arts Email DC Advocates Chair Rob Bettmann at robert@dcadvocatesforthearts.A public hearing has been scheduled for Bill 18-451: Artist Protection Act on Wednesday, September 22 from 11am to 1pm. It's critical that our community offer testimony at the hearing to help policy-makers understand our support for this bill. Under current District law, works of art owned by artists but in the possession of galleries can be seized by creditors of the gallery. The bill would clarify that works of art loaned to galleries are not subject to the galleries' creditors and offer other protections. |
