LOOKING FOR AN ARTIST WHOSE TALENT DESERVES TO BE RECOGNIZED
SILVER SPRING, MD - Plaza Artist Materials and Pyramid Atlantic Arts Center will be offering a one-month residency opportunity to one lucky artist from the Greater Metropolitan DC Area with an interest in printmaking, papermaking, digital arts or book arts and whose talent deserves to be recognized. Artists interested in being considered for the residency should contact jdominguez@pyramid-atlantic.org for an application and more details.
"This residency is a unique opportunity for one artist to engage in the mediums of papermaking, printmaking and bookmaking in our studios in Downtown Silver Spring with our dynamic Artistic staff," said Jose Dominguez, Executive Director of Pyramid Atlantic Arts Center.
"Plaza is very excited to work with Pyramid Atlantic in creating this residency. It's a perfect fit for us to support our community of local artists as well as partner with such an outstanding organization," said Eric Zelenko, CEO of Plaza Artist Materials of the Midatlantic, Inc.
During their month long residency at Pyramid, the artist will receive:
· $1000 honorarium,
· $500 gift card from Plaza Artist Materials for their residency activities,
· 24-hour access (key provided for duration of residency) and use of fully equipped studios for papermaking, etching, lithography, relief, screen-printing, letterpress, and digital printing,
· opportunity to be included in Pyramid Atlantic's permanent collection,
· opportunity to show new work in exhibitions, and much more
An Advisory Panel consisting of representatives from Pyramid Atlantic Arts Center and Plaza Artist Materials will select one artist for the residency opportunity. The artist will be notified in April and the residency will occur in May of 2009.
